Why Support AYOI?
At AYOI, we believe in giving a 'second chance' to the out of school deprived youth and help them earn a decent living. By providing vocational training and life skills, we intend to turn the less privileged youth into an asset for the society and the nation.
AYOI has a flexible and innovative model that has been appreciated by the MoEVT and has proved effective in the urban, and rural areas. Our model ensures that the local community needs are met thus benefiting the youth as well as the entire community. AYOI is an inspired movement with a desire to bring about a change for the betterment of the society and the nation.
Pillars of Education and Career Development Programs
Quality Education
Many challenges remain in order for children in Tanzania to have access to quality education. These challenges include high rates of school drop-outs, absenteeism, geographic disparities, lack of educational resources, and limited educational opportunities for vulnerable groups of children. Teachers in Tanzania continue to engage in rote learning and are not trained to approach the curriculum with creativity and innovation, causing them to not be able to effectively engage children in the classroom. In response to these challenges, AYOI's Mobile Learning Centre (TBA) will give the poorest and most neglected children the opportunity to access books and educational facilities through the provision of a Learning Centre and interactive workshops, encouraging children to develop a passion for education and creatively engage in key learning areas.
Natural Resource Management
Natural resource management (NRM) includes impact and management of land, water, soil, plants and animals; focusing on how management affects the quality of life for both present and future generations.
NRM deals with managing the way in which people and natural landscapes interact. It brings together natural heritage management, land use planning, water management, bio-diversity conservation, and the future sustainability of industries like agriculture, mining, tourism, fisheries, and forestry.
At AYOI, we work to:
Include sustainability efforts and importance within our courses & programs
Partner with sustainable organizations for career development opportunities
Value stewardship of our resources as a primary responsibility for creating a safe and long-lasting environment
Achieving SDGs
AYOI focuses on asking the right questions that will help us shape a future we can all participate in and be proud of. By asking questions on what is important to us, we are able to focus on growth and community support by creating campaigns and efforts around our focused Sustainable Development Goals.
We believe however, that growth can’t happen at any cost – we need to consider how to achieve it in a way that brings everyone up, and leaves no one behind. Growth needs to be achieved in a way that leaves a positive impact on current and all future generations to come.
Livelihood & Employment
AYOI works with a "3E formula"
Encourage
Educate
Employ
AYOI utilizes their "The AYOI Model of Training" program to enhance employability of those entering the job market and creating an equitable opportunity for all socially, geographically, and disadvantages groups. AYOI trains youth in need of high demand skills to create a foundation of opportunity and training for individuals to be able to support themselves and their families.
Gender Equality
Gender equality is not only a fundamental human right, but a necessary foundation for a peaceful, prosperous and sustainable world. There has been progress over the last decades: More girls are going to school, fewer girls are forced into early marriage, more women are serving in parliament and positions of leadership, and laws are being reformed to advance gender equality.
Despite these gains, many challenges remain and AYOI ensures that there is gender equality and equal opportunity and education for all genders within their core philosophy, education and curriculum, and career development programs.
Social Awareness
Although AYOI believes that social awareness of community needs is important, it is not the end of our work. Our social awareness efforts are to first, educate the communities in which we serve to ensure they are provided with the opportunities and information they need to be successful.
Our ultimate goal however is to ensure that there is a material impact executed through action, education, and community support.
